Game Preview

The Washington Nationals sport a record of 61-39 heading into this matchup, while the Colorado Rockies sit at 58-45 on the season. This game matches up the No. 5 (Washington Nationals) and the No. 14 (Colorado Rockies) teams, according to current MLB Power Rankings.

Defensive Impact

Scoring stats point to some edges in this matchup. The game features the Washington Nationals No. 2-ranked scoring average of 5.63 runs per game, against a Colorado Rockies offense rated No. 4 and scoring 5.33 runs per game. The Nationals have averaged 9.75 hits per game to date this season, more than the Rockies hitters have managed (9.46 per nine innings).

Washington owns the No. 11 defense, allowing 5.63 men per game to cross the plate. That contrasts with Colorado’s No. 17-rated defense.

I like the Nationals to win this straight up on the money line at -140, expect Washington to score well in this game and make an impact on defense at home.
